Birmingham International Airport is popular with business and holiday travellers. There are more than 50 airlines flying to over 125 destinations from Birmingham airport and in 2008 just over 9.6 million passengers passed through its terminals. It is the fifth busiest airport in the UK behind Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Stansted (or the second busiest outside London) and the third busiest UK charter airport.
Birmingham airport is 8 miles southeast of Birmingham city centre on the A45 Birmingham - Coventry main road. Or, if you are travelling from further afield, it is off junction 6 of the M42 with direct access from the M1, M5, M6, and M40 motorways.
The airport is made up of two terminals, the 'Eurohub' (or terminal 2), which handles all BA, BASE and American Airlines flights, and the 'Main Terminal' (or terminal 1) which handles all other airlines. The millennium link bridge connects the two terminals
There is ample airport parking at the birmingham airport, including short term and long term car parks, plus off airport car parking, which can often be cheaper. There is also an on airport hotel (the Novotel), plus plenty of local hotels offering an overnight stay plus free parking package.
Once inside the terminal, you will find all of the facilities you would expect from an international airport. There are airport lounges and both levels of the two terminals have currency exchange bureaus and a number of ATMs. There is a good range of eating and shopping facilities, excellent disabled facilities and a left luggage facility in terminal 1.
