Flybe performance ahead of last year
02.12.08
Regional budget airline Flybe has said that its performance for the first quarter of its 2008 / 09 financial year is ahead of last year, when it recorded record profits. The airline says this puts it ‘in a position that few of its rivals can match’.
The airline has also unveiled its 2009 summer schedule. This includes new flights to Jersey from Inverness, Dundee and Kent International. Flybe is also increasing frequencies from Robin Hood, Cardiff, Exeter, Newcastle and Birmingham Airport. More new routes are to be announced this week.
Mike Rutter, Flybe chief commercial officer, said: ‘Over the last 12 months we have continued to grow and develop to provide the most cost-effective, efficient and flexible service for business and leisure passengers. This is paying off, our customers keep coming back and consumer confidence in Flybe remains strong.'
‘We continue to grow strongly despite tough economic conditions as we attract passengers from high-price / full service airlines and no-service / budget airlines. Over the last 12 months, we have cemented our leadership of the UK regional domestic market, become the fastest growing airline at Gatwick, and grown strongly in European business-only services.’
