Fire closes train station
03.01.08
A fire closed Birmingham International train station - which serves Birmingham Airport and the National Exhibition Centre - for two hours yesterday.
Passengers and staff were forced to leave the building after the fire started in a cafe inside the station at around 10:00. It was quickly controlled and there have been no reported injuries.
Travellers at the station were already affected by overrunning engineering works on the West Coast Mainline. Buses were used to transfer outgoing passengers to another local rail station, whilst incoming passengers were forced to transfer via Birmingham New Street.
