Flybe rubbish 'financial difficulty' report

Flybe has hit back at a damning report from an investment analyst that says the Exeter-based regional budget airline is one of 50 European carriers unlikely to survive the credit crunch and rising cost of fuel. A spokesman for Flybe, which carried about 7 million passengers last year, criticised the ‘unwarranted speculation’.
Flybe chief operating officer Mike Rutter said: ‘It is not a gloomy outlook for Flybe, it is the exact opposite. We will shortly release details of record profits for last year and our first quarter profits are ahead of 2007. We are the only airline able to announce such positive results.’
