IT staff axed at Flybe
06.02.09
Flybe, Europe's biggest regional budget airline, is making 10 staff redundant out of its 60-strong IT department, with a further 20 roles at risk, Computing has reported. Consultations are due to finish in one to two weeks, and those affected will receive minimum statutory payments, it adds.
The airline has confirmed that a 'departmental restructuring' is taking place within its IT section, but said that the redundancies are not linked to the current economic climate. Flybe is the UK's biggest regional airline, with 7.5m passengers last year. Ironically, it is currently offering to refund the cost of a holiday to passengers if it has to be cancelled due to redundancy.
