Award for airport marketing team
08.10.07
Birmingham Airport was 'highly commended' by the Official Airline Guides (OAG) for its airport marketing. The airport was recognised in the category of 'Airports with between 5 -10 million passengers' at an awards ceremony at the yearly Routes conference in Stockholm late last month.
Established in 1997, the OAG Airport Marketing Awards recognise airports that take a fresh approach to marketing themselves and their industry, and whose activities have a positive impact in the market place. The winners are selected by up to 1000 delegates from the 250 airlines attending the conference.
Birmingham has won this award twice in the previous 3 years and is pleased to be such a strong contender as runner up to Milan Linate in 2007. Peter Vella, Business Development Director at the airport, said: 'We have previously won the award twice in the past 4 years and being Highly Commended this year shows that we are consistently respected across the globe in our industry.'
'The award means a great deal to the Marketing Team at Birmingham Airport, as it is highly prized by airports across the world and is voted for by airlines.'
