Airport passengers up 1.5 percent

Birmingham Airport had 984,245 passengers in September, including 687,139 scheduled passengers and 297,106 charter passengers; an increase of 1.5 percent over the previous year. Growth was achieved on EU routes of 14.5 percent, while the Irish Republic saw an increase of 7.2 percent.
Scheduled routes that experienced growth in September included: Bratislava (+808.4 percent), Stuttgart (+617 percent), Larnaca (+86.6 percent), Inverness (+69.6 percent), Marseille (+52.5 percent) and Milan (+50.3 percent).. Charter traffic experienced growth on routes including Egypt (+73.1 percent), Croatia (+24.5 percent), Madeira (+24.2 percent), and Mexico (+20.9 percent).
