New food outlets announced
11.02.10
Food and beverage specialist Pret A Manger has secured leases on 3 prime spots at Birmingham Airport following a tender late last year. The shops are the first Pret outlets to open in an airport outside the South East and are a step forward in the company’s plans to be represented at all major airports across the UK, a spokesman said.
An airside outlet will begin trading in the departure lounge of Terminal 1, in addition to one landside in T1 and an external kiosk. Work on the units is to begin in March, with the units to be open in May.
The three shops will be served by a large on-site kitchen, part of Pret’s commitment to prepare sandwiches, salads and wraps using fresh, natural ingredients each day. The on-site kitchen will also enable it to react quickly to fluctuations in footfall and demand.
The shops’ opening hours will be between 04:00 - 23:00 daily, with plans to open 24 hours during the summer months when the airport at its busiest.
