Man charged over big drugs find

Customs officers at Birmingham Airport foiled a bid to smuggle thousands of pounds worth of cocaine into the country hidden in tubs of hand cream over the weekend. Edwin Atuegwu Mbonu, 54, from Nigeria, was charged with smuggling Class A drugs into the UK following discovery of the drugs in his luggage on Sunday.
About a kilo of the drug was found concealed in tubs of hand cream. The estimated street value was over £100,000. About £2,000 in cash he was carrying was also seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
