People told not to travel to airport to see Pope
11.09.10
Birmingham Airport has warned people not to travel to the hub in the hope of seeing the Pope leave the UK at the end of a visit that starts next week. The airport said that the departure will ‘take place in a restricted zone, away from all public areas’, so there will be nothing to see.
The Pope is due to visit Birmingham on September 19 to beatify Cardinal John Henry Newman who died in the city in 1890. TV stations across the world will be showing the mass conducted by Pope Benedict XVI.
The airport is asking that members of the public to watch the events on TV, including the Pope's departure from the hub, which will be shown on BBC2.
