Record April at Birmingham Airport

Birmingham Airport has announced that it enjoyed its busiest ever April, with 712,476 people passing through the airport's two terminals in the month. It was the forth consecutive record-breaking month for Birmingham, with February and March also recording best-ever figures.
598,712 scheduled and 113,764 charter passengers used the airport last month, smashing its previous record figure for April and exceeding last year's total by 6.2 percent. Growth was achieved on non-EU routes of 5 percent, EU routes of 10.9 percent and domestic of 5.3 percent, with the Irish Republic seeing an increase of 17.6 percent.
Scheduled routes that experienced growth in April include: Geneva (up 533.1 percent), Bratislava (418.6 percent), Warsaw (142 percent), Inverness (106.1 percent), Chambery (96 percent), Dusseldorf (46.8 percent), Paphos (37.4 percent) and Stuttgart (33.2 percent). Charter routes that experienced growth were Turkey (up 19.3 percent), Canary Islands (9.5 percent), Egypt (8.1 percent) and Cyprus (4.4 percent).

With new routes launched to Bergamo with bmibaby, Newquay by flybe and Girona and Pisa by Ryanair during April, our passengers continue to have an ever-increasing range of destinations to choose from their local airport.’
