Data security upgraded by Flybe

Flybe has upgraded its systems for handling customers' financial data. The regional budget airline has more than 20 million visitors to its website per year and 85% of its flight bookings are online. With more than 2000 devices connected to its databases, the airline needed to be able to track attempts access to information as well as the data itself in order to maintain security.
Flybe IT security manager, Chris Cooper, said that the new security systems needed to be scalable and able to handle peaks and troughs of demand. He said: ‘We need technology that can monitor events across our network and cope with sharp increases in information needing to be stored.’
Enterprise security specialist Gradian helped Flybe install the new system from supplier RSA. The new platform will also help the airline meet the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) which governs the storage of customer data.
