Airport hotel thief jailed
15.08.10
A thief has been jailed for 18 months after trying to raid a cash drawer at the reception of a Birmingham Airport hotel – a few months after stealing equipment from an ambulance. Tyrone McDermott jumped the front desk at the Etap Hotel on July 20 but left empty handed after being disturbed by staff. He was arrested later that day.
Last Christmas Eve, the 30-year-old stole a computer, navigation systems, mobile phones and other equipment from an ambulance outside Hall Green Health Centre. He received a 12-month prison term suspended for one year for the offence in April at Birmingham Crown Court. This week the same court jailed him after hearing he had struck again at the airport hotel - and a petrol station and supermarket - during the suspended period.
