Passengers up 2.8 percent in October

Birmingham Airport handled 850,034 passengers during October, including 607,979 scheduled passengers and 242,055 charter passengers. This represents an increase of 2.8 percent over the previous year.
Non EU routes were up by 8.5 percent and EU routes by 5.9 percent. Domestic routes saw an increase of 2.3 percent, and the Channel Isles an increase of 12.2 percent. Long-haul routes to Asia were up 10.1 percent.
Scheduled traffic accounted for 71.5 percent of total passenger traffic, whilst charter passengers were 28.5 percent. Scheduled routes that experienced growth in October included Bratislava (298.5 percent), Palma (135.7 percent), Aberdeen (110.8 percent), Murcia (69.4 percent) and Barcelona. Charter routes that experienced growth included Bulgaria (46.1 percent), Egypt (34.4 percent), Morocco (34 percent) and Malta (31.2 percent).
