Spanair announce Barcelona and Madrid flights
19.03.10
Scheduled flights to Barcelona and Madrid are to be launched from Birmingham Airport by Spanair this summer season. The airline’s very first scheduled services from the UK are to start in May using a 168-seat Airbus A320 plane providing a two-class configuration. The move comes as bmibaby withdraws its Birmingham - Barcelona service on June 7.
Spanair is to serve Barcelona four times a week from May 20 and Madrid 3 times a week from May 25. Madrid has not been served from Birmingham airport since October 2008. Lead in fares start from £65 return including taxes and charges. The airline will offer onward flights from Barcelona and Madrid throughout its scheduled network in mainland Spain, the Balearics and Canary Islands in addition to North Africa.
