Birmingham Airport handled 937,205 passengers through its two terminals in September, with 666,599 scheduled passengers and 270,606 charter passengers. This was 4.8% down on a year earlier.
The airport officially celebrated its 70th anniversary last month and opened the new £45 million International Pier. Last month also saw the first visit of an A380 to Birmingham, the first commercial A380 service to operate into a regional UK airport - although only for one day.
During September growth was achieved on scheduled flights to destinations including Krakow (+118.9%), Arrecife (+91.1%), Hamburg (+81.8%) and Larnaca (+80.8%). Charter flights that experienced growth included Egypt (+70.8%) and Turkey (+39%).
