Prince Edward officially launched Birmingham Airport's International Pier yesterday. The £50m project extends the airport and is the biggest investment in the airport since the late 1980s. The three-storey construction accommodates both departing and arriving passengers alongside offices for airside and handling agents.
Prince Edward said the Pier was ‘very impressive,' adding ‘I wish the airport the greatest of success in the future.’ The Prince, also the Duke of Kent, was following in the footsteps of Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, who opened the airport terminal in 1939.
