Birmingham Airport experienced a 4.2% drop in passengers in July compared to last year, with 928,283 travellers passing through its terminals. Paul Kehoe, the airport's CEO, said that with the current economic climate it is ‘perhaps unsurprising’ that there was a decrease in passenger numbers.
Despite the drop in passenger numbers, the airport some big passengers increases on some routes. On scheduled services those travelling to Arrecife were up 144.2%, and to Tehran up 99.5%. On charter services those travelling to the Dominican Republic were up by 95.5%.
