bmi baby to move 3 routes to Birmingham Airport
27.01.05
bmi baby, the low-cost airline, has scrapped 4 flights from East Midlands Airport and is moving 3 others to Birmingham Airport.
bmi baby announced yesterday that it is ending services from East Midlands to Dublin, Barcelona, Ibiza and Toulouse. Flights to Nice, Bordeaux and Knock in Ireland are being moved to Birmingham Airport and a further two routes - to Paris and Nice - will go to its full service sister airline BMI.
The changes will take place when the airline launches its summer schedule in April and will mean that bmi baby will fly to 11 destinations from East Midlands in the summer of 2005, compared to 20 in 2004.
A BMI spokesperson said: 'Passengers flying with BMI Regional... will benefit from the same starting prices that were available through BMI Baby.' He added carriers had been surprised at how far people were prepared to travel to get cheap fares.
