Flybe can award skills qualifications
29.01.08
Flybe has achieved a significant national first – that of being named as one of only three companies in the UK to have achieved the standards required to become an Awarding Body for its own approved qualifications.
The Exeter-based airline, which employs 3000 staff, will now be able to award certificates up to the equivalent of degree level. Flybe training programmes will confer qualifications from level 2 (GCSE at A*-C) to level 4 (degree) for its cabin and engineering crew.
Jim French, Chairman and Chief Executive at the airline, said: 'This is a tremendous honour and is testament to our first class training and development programmes. As a business that sets and achieves high standards within a highly regulated industry, we have met the demanding Qualification and Curriculum Authority (QCA) standards – the first airline in the UK to achieve this, which we are extremely proud of'.
